Description

This course describes, from a practitioner’s viewpoint, methods used to design projects intended to improve the quality of life of people in a developing country. The methods are not restricted to this application, however. Similar methods are used by large for-profit organizations in many countries. The methods are applicable to any situation where ideas need to be collected from a group of people and then worked on by the group. They are particularly useful for group problem-solving situations. One variation of the method is known as the KJ method. This is one of many tools used in the area of Total Quality Management.

This article describes the design process in general terms and then details the main stages of



Objective

  • Students will learn and understand the Eight Disciplines (Global 8-D) process
  • Correlate the Eight Disciplines process with the Corrective and Preventive action process defined within a management system
  • Identify how team problem solving benefits your organization
  • Learn to implement the Eight Discipline process and the tools that are used to complete the process

Participant

Individuals, who manage, lead or participate in problem-solving teams, corrective and preventive action activities or are responsible to customers for customer complaint issues
